Dear Ladies and Gentlemen, I am a disabled person

recently I changed the settings in my profile to cnn
E-MAIL ALERTS/NEWSLETTERS

site and now I don't receive the desired newsletters
anymore. I already tried to unsubscribe and subscribe
a new several times but nothing works.

Could you please help me on this, I really don't know
anymore what to do.

Hiya

Looking at the CNN website, its your email account you're logging into, to receive the newsletters. Not sure how to change them, unless you're a member.

However, I was looking at Alerts:

http://edition.cnn.com/youralerts/

There is a tour to watch, which may help.

However, if its the actual newsletters, it may be difficult.

However, seen this:

http://edition.cnn.com/help/preferences.html#2b

What if I haven't been receiving my E-mail Newsletters?
If you currently use software to block e-mail spam, your e-mail newsletters may be getting blocked. Double check that the following domains are on you allowed list.
• mail.cnn.com
• lists.cnn.com
• mail.cnnmoney.com
• lists.cnnmoney.com
• proc.turner.com
Do you use any programs to block email spam?

Regards

Okay, I've registered at the site, so looking at the information now :)

Clicking on Add an E-mail newsletter, I see the option at the bottom to Add Alerts. Have you pressed that option?

Also, there are boxes to tick. make sure that some of these are selected, otherwise nothing will be sent to you.

Also, what is your email that you use? You don't need to tell me the full address, just the name, eg Hotmail, Gmail etc :)

Okay, when I register with Hotmail, it goes to my Inbox. But, with Gmail it went to my SPAM folder.

Check that folder, to see if any emails are in there. Many are deleted after 30 days of when they were delivered.

Looks like the domain is proc.turner.com, so that may be why its going there.

If any are there, click the box so that a Check Mark is showing, then click on Not Spam.

If none there, will try something else :)

Okay, what I've done is sign up for the following newsletters:

Breaking News E-mail Alerts from CNN
American Morning Quick News
The Daily Top 10
The CNN Political Ticker
Health Week - Your weekly update on the latest health news

Tried to pick things that may update more than once a week. At the top of the page, it says to select the email address to use. Is the one that is shown in your drop down box, your email address, and does it have the green Confirmed next to it?

What I'll have to do, is wait for one to arrive. Then, as soon as its there, I'll go back in, remove it, and see what happens. Then, I'll re-add it again.

Will be back as soon as they arrive ;)

Hmmm, that worked for me, so lets see if a cleanup will help with you. You'll have to re-log into here and CNN after, as this will delete your cookies :)

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.
This program is for XP and Windows 2000 only

  • Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
    Under Main choose: Select All
    Click the Empty Selected button.
If you use Firefox browser
  • Click Firefox at the top and choose: Select All
    Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
If you use Opera browser
  • Click Opera at the top and choose: Select All
    Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

No joy there :(

First off, did you clear the cookies as mentioned above? Also, lets see whats running, as something may be blocking the email.

  • Save HJTInstall.exe to your desktop.
  • Doubleclick on the HJTInstall.exe icon on your desktop.
  • By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis .
  • Click on Install.
  • It will create a HijackThis icon on the desktop.
  • Once installed, it will launch Hijackthis.
  • Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
  • Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
  • Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
  • DO NOT have Hijackthis fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

CNN We have investigated your problem with not receiving alerts/newsletters. If you currently use software to block e-mail spam, the CNN e-mail alerts/newsletters may be getting blocked. Double check that the following domains are on your allowed list.

mail.cnn.com
lists.cnn.com
mail.cnnmoney.com
lists.cnnmoney.com
proc.turner.com

If you registered your e-mail address and subscribed to newsletters using the CNN.com website and then later unsubscribed using the link in the newsletter, there isn't a way to re-subscribe. I've run into this before. CNN's web support staff doesn't understand the problem I've tried to explain.

When you log into your account, are the newsletters you want to receive still checked? If so, I don't know of any resolution besides subscribing with a new e-mail address.
