ok,ok, these are the problems, I just put a new hard drive in my daughters computer, I partitioned the drive , blah, blah, blah, uploaded windows 98 SE, it works, blah, blah blah, but low and behold, now there are only two colors ( no options for 256 colors), PEOPLE, hheeeelllppp....Im sucking!
Not only that but I bought a simple speaker system for the computer, very simple speakers, that windows should have a driver for, but for some reason windows can't find a driver for it. It doesn't work, I hear crickets, I can hear my stomach growling, but I cant hear the ole infamous windows ding, ding ding ding ding! Somebody please, HHEEELLLLLPPPP!!

Have you tried updating and re-installing the video drives? Check the type of sound card and search their site for the drivers.

You might need to reinstall your video card or display adapter.
Right click on "my computer" icon on the desk top...choose properties. look under device manager for display adapters. Make sure one is listed. If it is, look and see if there are any errors and make sure a driver is installed. Try and update the driver.
