I keep getting a display configuration error when I boot up. When it does come up, I only get 16 colors and low resolution. When I change it to 256 color and 800x600 it gets hung up on the restart and never finishes loading. I have tried different standard drivers as well as downloading the one for my current monitor, but still get the same error and hangup on the restart.

    Hi jb2, welcome to TSG.

You need to figure out what display adapter card you have....this is what needs loaded and/or updated.....not the monitor drivers....

Look in the control panel/system/device manager to see what shows there for display adapter....if it's generic, you'll more than likely need to pop the computer open and take a look if you don't know what video card is installed.
