I reinstalled win 98 SE (IE 6)and now the colors are out of wack. The graphics are blured and the colors are unnatural.
I can get to the color management:
display properties>settings>advanced>color management>color profiles(none).
I would appreciate the settings that I should have.
Many thanks

If the graphics are blurred it probably isn’t color management. You might not have the graphics driver installed and you are displaying in 16 colors. You can check that hypothesis by right clicking on the desktop, Properties, Settings and seeing if you are stuck in 16 colors.

shouldn't it be in the millions of colors? 256 sounds too low. what type of card do you have?

also, this thread should probably be moved to the windows 95/98 forum.

I have only 16 and 32 bit selections, which as ZeroHour points out is in the millions. 256 is pretty crappy.

Did you install a graphics driver after you reinstalled Win98? Did you do a full format and clean install or overinstall and have it keep all of your drivers and settings?

Sorry, I don't know what card I have.
Should I repost this in windows 95/98 forum?
Thanks for your reply.

Slipe...I over installed.
Should I try the 16 or 32 to see what that does?
Thanks!

If you have the choice of 16 or 32 bit your driver is still installed. You usually don’t lose it unless you do a clean install. Try 16 bit mode. You can try 32 bit as well, but some older cards don’t have enough memory and your refresh rate slows.

Whoo! That did it! The desktop now looks normal.
Many thanks to you both.
Much appreciated
