I have an 80G hard drive that I originally partitioned into three 25G partitions. My C drive is now so full that I cannot defrag properly, and that drive is pretty seriously fragmented. I have used only about half of the D drive, but I have installed many of my programs on that drive.

Is there a way I can remove the partition between C and D and combine them into one drive?

Thanks for any help.

Try Partition Magic... it allows you to merge partitions etc.

I'm not really sure whether its available as a stand alone application now.. but google it anyway. There are other good parition manager software but I'm not familiar with anything else.

Whatever method you use backup everything you want to keep first. This is a reasonably significant change that is not 100% foolproof.

Another slightly safer method would be to decrease the size of D: and increase the size of C:.

You also might check what is taking up so much space on the C: drive and see if you can relocate it to D: or do a cleanup. For example I just did a clean install of XP, have most of my apps and data on D:, and the C: drive is just under 5 gigs.
