Hello, I found these forums as I was searching online for a possible solution to my problem.

I have a comcast cable modem connection and use Windows XP, without service pack 2. I have had some problems for a while with my connection primarily with one online game, Infantry Online. The problem is I end up disconnecting from the game about every 10 minutes or so, sometimes less and sometimes more time passes between each disconnect. Anyhow, the game comes with a Ping Route program that traces the hops from my computer to Sony's server. Almost all of the packet loss is at the ATT servers. This is an excerpt from the ping route:

    Hop - IP - Name - Last Ping - Average Ping - Best Ping - Worst Ping - Sent - Recieved - % Lost

    6 12.123.13.158 gbr5-p30.sffca.ip.att.net 15 ms 18 ms 14 ms 43 ms 285 120 58%
    7 12.122.11.89 tbr2-p013501.sffca.ip.att.net 34 ms 18 ms 13 ms 54 ms 285 80 72%
    8 12.122.10.26 tbr1-cl3.la2ca.ip.att.net 14 ms 19 ms 14 ms 54 ms 285 73 75%
    9 12.122.9.146 tbr2-p012501.la2ca.ip.att.net 24 ms 19 ms 14 ms 44 ms 285 107 63%
    10 12.122.12.2 gbr2-p40.sd2ca.ip.att.net 18 ms 18 ms 13 ms 37 ms 285 59 80%
    11 12.123.145.25 gar1-p370.sd2ca.ip.att.net 17 ms 20 ms 14 ms 65 ms 284 119 59%
    12 12.122.255.206 mdf1-gsr12-2-pos-7-0.san2.attens.net 14 ms 18 ms 14 ms 38 ms 284 50 83%
    13 63.241.1.254 46 ms 30 ms 24 ms 68 ms 284 283 1%
    14 63.241.60.42 vl10.sdkoll1sw-1.sonyonline.net 26 ms 35 ms 25 ms 308 ms 284 284 0%
    15 64.37.144.81 vl831.sdtermsw-1.sonyonline.net 30 ms 35 ms 25 ms 256 ms 284 283 1%
    16 64.37.134.135 sdinf1.station.sony.com 33 ms 30 ms 25 ms 76 ms 284 281 2%

I get 0 to 1% packet loss from the first 5 hops, which are my computer then some routers I believe, since I am on a network. I have not yet tried to contact Comcast customer support yet as it seems to be a problem with just this game which I play about once or twice a week... although that's probably because of the connection problems. Browsing the internet on Internet Explorer seems fine, as well as the other online game I play... which also is a Sony game and probably goes through the same ATT servers. Maybe it's more tolerable towards gaps in the connection and I just don't notice the problems in the game.

Anyways, if there's any extra information needed, just ask!

    Thanks alot,
    StuffMan.

Well, I wouldn't waste your time talking to Comcast, since the problem appears to be farther down the line.

Just for clarification, the att.net servers are comcast, right? I thought Comcast bought AT&T a while ago.

You know, you're right! :D I forgot about them buying up the AT&T cable network... Maybe you should call Comcast. :)
