When I go to LAN settings "Use automatic configuration script" is checked. Diolog box says http:\\proxy.8000. Signinig on to Comcast or Outlook Express takes a long time to come on. If I uncheck it, they come on OK. However; if I off line for any length of time, it will be checked again .

How do I get rid of it?

    Thank You.

Comcast does not need LAN settings.
    Sounds like spyware.
Run Hijack This and post the log it gives you, but dont "fix" anything yet.

All I do for a direct connect to Comcast DOCSIS modems is to set DHCP enabled and it connects just fine. No extra software needed...
