Hi Everyone. I have a problem with an *old* Compaq Elite something-or-other. It's been in storage (a closet) for over a year, and I just took it out to see if I could get some use out of it and maybe donate to my sister. It (used to) run Windows 95, but now when I turn it on, it runs the POST operations, then says "Disk I/O Error. Replace the disk, and press any key..." I've made sure there is no floppy in the dive, and that my hard drive (removeable) was firmly in it's 'slot'. All that was, but it still gives me the I/O error. Is my hard drive trashed? Let me know.

I tried to at least get DOS 5.0 on it with the DOS install disk, but it says it can't even find a hard drive to install to. What is wrong with this HDD, and can it be salvaged???
