I have a compaq model 4090US computer. I recently upgraded my memory to 512 MG of Ram 1 128 chip, came with the computer, bought another 128 and 256. When I installed all three chips in the all three slots the computer started to boot and recognized the full amot of Ram, but the in the middle of boot up it would freeze up. this happened several times, now I have the 256K chip as well as the 128K I bought, and the computer is fine. I dont have the original chip in the computer. I asked several people and they found this very unusal. Can somebody help me or explain why I cant use the whold 512K of ram:mad:

are all 3 chips the same type? (pc100, pc133, etc) its not supposed to matter if you mix pc100 and pc133 but some boards are picky.

also, make sure that you have the largest chip in slot0 (first slot).

if it continues, then its pretty much down to incompatable/bad ram chip or a problem with the board/slot.
