I HAVE A v2000 When I press the power button it only comes on for a few sec. Then off. I put on a new Dc jack new battery same. But before all this stated the computer was doing this but after a while it would come on. then the touch pad got warm then nothing. could this be the mother board? or just the processor

Yes, it could come on, then go off right away, very easily ;)

Take a look under the hood.

Test the fan? Either it spins or it doesn't.........You list your exp. as beginner. I don't think I'd have the guts enough to rip a laptop apart  and I consider myself very advanced :D

Just be careful. They come apart easier than they go back together.
