I have a paper to write. I am not looking for someone to write it. I just not sure on how to approach it. My professor wants us to do a comparison between anti-malware, anti-spyware and firewalls.

well, spyware is malware so my question is how would you compare a firewall to an anti-ware program?

    what should I focus on?

Malware is the catch-all term for any undesirable software. Like fake antivirus programs, for example. These programs market themselves via pop-ups telling you that your PC is infected with gazillions of viruses and prompt you to download and scan. Once installed, they pester you with fake warnings until you pay for their non-functional antivirus.

Spyware covers things like screen scrapers that take snapshots of your screen, keyloggers that capture everything typed and password stealers which are specialized keyloggers that capture only account logins.

I believe wikipedia has a lot of info on these 3 subjects.
