    Hi!

I'm pretty familiar with web design and have been using dreamweaver and front page for years, but I'd like to know more about the stuff behind all that.....database on websites and server stuff. I've no idea where to start....can anyone point me in the right direction??

Please bear in mind I'm a dumb blonde  , so the simpler the better to start off with!

    Cheers (y)

    Hi Discodolly,

People who are asking questions are never dumb and people who stop asking questions are nearly dead ! (Proverb)
PHP - MySql - Apache is the most famous trio known for web applications.
You can find many tutorials on the web to learn about it, free stuffs to try your own application.
Have a try with PHP and MySql to begin with.

yah, like i always say PHP RULES!

oh and about the whole dynamic web page scene...other than just straight HTML code, yes php & apache are excellant. B4 u can learn that u need to get a good idea of what is happening...like what a database is and how php (or other server-side scripts) communicate with the database and how apache plays a part in it. Like the post below there are plent of tutorials and the best ones will go thru a beginners tutorial on what all that advanced web-lingo means. This way you'll know what u r doing when u use PHP to query a mySQL database to select a certain row from a certain table or whatever.

Try www.webmonkey.com i use them for a lot of things
