What is the best/quickest/easiest way to compress mp3's or .wav's to send via email? I realize that quality goes way down; just want to be able to send some larger files that otherwise would exceed several mb's. thanks!

    (Using WinXP Pro)

mp3's are already compressed so they aren't going to get much smaller.

That is true, but there are ways to compress files really small to be sent over email; I've done it for years, but not in a long time, so I don't remember what I used.

Recode the MP3 files to lower bit rates to make them smaller and of lower audio quality.

How do you do record the mp3 files?

Not record, recode. Open the mp3 file in an audio editor program that can input and output mp3 files. I use a commercial program called Nero Wave Editor. Then have the editor program "Save As" the opened file with a lower bit rate. If the file size is still too large, open the original MP3 file and save as an even lower bit rate MP3 file.

If you can find a converter to change them to either .SWF
.FLV files, they will be anywhere from 60% to 75%
    smaller.

    (Those are Flash formats).
