Compuserve 7 does not start

I've seen this in previous threads. Compuserve 7 will not successfully launch from the desktop icon, nor from the quick launch toolbar. It will start from the start menu. Deleting and recreating a new desktop shortcut either does not work, or only works for one or two launches. This is a new issue - CS has been launching successfully from the desktop icon literally for years. Latest version of AIM was loaded months ago, and Backup Exec System Recovery last month, but there were no problems until now. These are the only new programs added.
