I noticed today that my computer has been acting kind of strange. It moves a lot slower and locks up a lot. Here is the hijackthis log file. Can someone please look at it and see if something isn't right? Thanks so much.

Hi, That's an older version of HijackThis, please follow these steps to get the newer one and post a log:

    • Save Hijackthis.exe to your desktop.
    • Double click on the HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop.
    • By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Hijack This.
    • Continue to click Next in the setup dialogue boxes until you get to the Select Additional Tasks dialogue.
    • Put a check by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.
    • Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
    • At the final dialogue box click Finish and it will launch Hijack This.
    • Click on the Do a system scan and save a log file button. It will scan and then ask you to save the log.
    • Click Save to save the log file and then the log will open in notepad.
    • At the top of the Notepad HJT log screen, hit EDIT then SELECT ALL then click EDIT and then click COPY, doing that copies the text to the clipboard, you won't see it yet....
    • Open a TechSupportGuy forum Reply window for this thread, to have ready to paste the Hijackthis log into. Click once to place the typing cursor in the reply window.
    • At the top of your TSG/browser window, hit EDIT then PASTE
    • You should see your copied Hijackthis log appear in the reply space....then, submit the reply
    • DO NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

    Hi.,

Please download WebRoot SpySweeper from HERE (It's a 2 week trial):

Install it. Once the program is installed, it will open.
It will prompt you to update to the latest definitions, click Yes.
Once the definitions are installed, click Options on the left side.
    Click the Sweep Options tab.
Under What to Sweep please put a check next to the following:
    Sweep Memory
    Sweep Registry
    Sweep Cookies
    Sweep All User Accounts
    Enable Direct Disk Sweeping
    Sweep Contents of Compressed Files
Sweep for Rootkits-Make sure you DO check to do this one!
Please UNCHECK Do not Sweep System Restore Folder.

You should do the scan in Safe Mode:

    * Restart your computer into safe mode now.To get into the Windows 2000 / XP Safe mode, as the computer is booting press and hold your "F8 Key" which should bring up the "Windows Advanced Options Menu" as shown below. Use your arrow keys to move to "Safe Mode" and press your Enter key.

Perform the following steps in safe mode:
NOTE: SpySweeper may detect WildTangent, that is a game driver for online WT games, if you or someone does play those games, you should Ignore any WildTangent items SS detects!

Click Sweep Now on the left side.
    Click the Start button.
When it's done scanning, click the Next button.
Make sure everything has a check next to it, then click the Next button.
It will remove all of the items found.
Click Session Log in the upper right corner, copy everything in that window.
Click the Summary tab and click Finish.
Paste the contents of the session log you copied into your next reply, along with a new HJT log

Hi, Need the new HJT log, things look good so far!

I have someone coming along shortly to possibly have you run AproposFix or give an opinion that you do or don't have to...hang on if you can, post a new HJT made after SpySweeper scan please

You may want to print out these instructions for reference, since you will have to restart your computer during the fix.

    Please download AproposFix from here

Save it to your desktop but do NOT run it yet.

Then please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following:
    • Restart your computer
    • After hearing your computer beep once during start-up, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
    • Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
    • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.

Once in Safe Mode, please double-click aproposfix.exe and unzip it to the desktop. Open the aproposfix folder on your desktop and run RunThis.bat. Follow the prompts.

When the tool is finished, please reboot back into normal mode, and post a new HijackThis log, along with the entire contents of the log.txt file in the aproposfix folder.

Please download VundoFix.exe to your desktop.
    • Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
    • Click the Scan for Vundo button.
    • Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
    • You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
    • Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
    • When completed, it will prompt that it will shutdown your computer, click OK.
    • Turn your computer back on.
    • Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThis log.
