My Win98SE Athlon 1200 computer, left unattended, sometimes just decides to re-boot itself. This happens when there is no power interruption (it's connected to a UPS), and for no apparent reason. It's very sporadic. Sometimes it'll go a full week without doing it; sometimes it'll happen only a day or two after I've booted up.

Anyone got any ideas as to why this is happening? Thanks for all replies.

A few things to check out. 1st, have you run an AV lately? There is more than 1 virii out there that does the rebooting thing to a computer. 2nd. Do you have a spyware finder/remover such as Spybot or Ad-aware? If not get one or even both, check for updates for the program, then run them. 3rd. Have/had you added any software or hardware to the pc immediately before the problem has cropped up? Could be a bad driver or conflicting programs, or the power supply might be struggling if you have added a cd-rw or the like and just need a new/bigger power supply. 4th. Whats the surroundings of the computer like? What I am referring to here is if the room where it is located is air conditioned or not as heat could also be a factor.

Just some thoughts to chew on.

    Good Luck!
