Computer Crashing (BSoD)

I recently had a virus on my computer that I had gotten rid of with malawarebytes. While I had this virus, my system wasn't getting udated, so my security was down . This is causing my computer to crash in normal mode as soon as I log in. I am currently using safe mode with networking to use my computer. I was wondering if there is any way I can use windows update in anyting other than normal mode . If not, then what can I do? I have a dell inspiron laptop. (windows vista)

Computers don't crash because "security was down". They crash for a specific reason.

What was the content of the blue screen you received when it crashed?

Have you tried scanning with other tools, like Superantispyware or your anti-virus program?

Have you tried System Restore?
