this is a computer that was given to me. The outside has CMI on it. It originally came from a mail order place, not sure which. Belarc advisor tells me that the MB is KM 400-8235. VIA Tech system, 1.20 AMD Sempron. It has 1 GB RAM now. When I got it there were 2 sticks of 32GB. When I put the 1 GB in I thought it would not keep freezing on me. However, it keeps on doing it. Sometimes instead of freezing the screen goes black and it is also frozen. It has XP home SP2. When I got on it this time it had shut down. Then when I turned it back on it said that it had just recovered from a serious error and might need updated drivers. It said they were unable to tell what driver was in need of updating. I tried to run mbam & it froze and turned black after about 3 min. Would it help to re install windows? I'm trying to fix it up for a friend that has a 10 yr old computer. I want it to be in good shape before I take it to her. Thanks for any help.

please bump my post back to the top. It has been 48 hrs. Also, may I add that just as I hit submit from the computer in question, it froze again. I'm on another computer right now. There is no rhyme or reason for the freezes and I never know when it will happen. I can't run programs like anti spyware most of the time. Thanks.
