my computer has recently been freezing up n crashing.... i have to reboot at time or it unfreezes by itseft after a while... i have run disk clean up, defragmentation, pc booster, windows update and virus scan with no result... i surf the web quite a bit (bellsouth dsl is my isp) and my computer freezes up when i open a new file or run a program such as window media player...

also when i press ctrl+alt+del it shows about 14 programs running (ig. explorer, ccapp, cfd, savenow, gmt, rundll32) is this normal or am i running uncecessary programs?

    thanks for your time

    1) go and download spybot

install spybot and UPDATE IT.....then run it. let it fix anything in red.

    reboot.

see if its any better. if you still have problems post and we can go from there.
