I am writing this while my computer is in safe mode. After I click on an account when I boot normally, it will freezes a few moments later on the desktop.

I have an HP DV8 that is about three years old. Here are the specs:
i7 Q720 @ 1.60 Ghz
4GB Ram

I've tried doing the boot repair by pressing F8 during startup and it said everything was working perfectly fine.

I also tried going to previous restore points and it still froze.

I did a scan using hijack this and here is the results:

Logfile of Trend Micro HijackThis v2.0.4

Thanks, Lance! I followed the instructions in the link and rebooted the computer. Unfortunately it still froze.

Have you gone through the whole procedure? Did you disable Services and Startup items in order to isolate an offending application?

Yes. I disabled all startup items and services except the Microsoft services....it still froze.

The procedure says if it is only microsoft services runing and it still freezes then it says contact your administrator or read some of the articles in the links below. I quickly browsed through many of the articles, but they were all regarding pre-login freezes.

When booting into Safe Mode, the operating system only loads the bare minimum of software that is required for the operating system to work. Safe Mode only loads basic video drivers. One of your drivers might be the cause. Is your video driver up-to-date?

It appears you have Sophos and Avast both running on that computer. Never install more than one antivirus at the time.

I updated the Nvidia video drivers and that helped some. It stayed stable after login for maybe about two minutes. However, the wireless was not connecting. Once it finally did, the computer froze. That is rather peculiar because I can run safe mode with network enabled (right now) and it doesn't freeze.

I updated the wireless driver and it actually made it worse. Now it won't even make it to the log on screen. Any ideas?

There are times when you just have to start over if there are bugs hiding in the walls that you can't get to. Baring other solutions, save what you can and either restore to a prior point when it worked or use the Restore Disk / Cab to bring it back to original and then update your drivers and installed software. It's not fun but it does work.
