when i'm viewing a thumbnail image, usually in My Documents or a sub folder, and i move the thumbnail slider, the computer will freeze up completely. i have to force a shut down. on reboot it will scan all the drives. the My Documents folder i'm using belongs to the D drive if it makes a difference. i don't use the one in the C drive.

    i'm running windows 98se, IE 5.1.

Are you using Explorer to view the thumbnails, or a graphics program? There are known issues, for example, with Micrografx Picture Publisher that cause this problem.

(if, by some odd coincidence this is the program you use, there is an update on their website that corrects the problem)
