Every few minutes the computer will freeze for about 20-30 seconds, allowing me to move my mouse and minimize the current screen I'm in but that is all. I can hit Con/Alt/Del and then just close the popup screen that brings up and all is fine again. Any ideas on what the problem is?

I've run adaware and spybot every day to make sure the Comp stays as clean as possible, but this is getting very annoying.

I can post a HJ log if needed. Thanks!

    Hi lorettasweet,

It would be wise to post a log to check if no malware has been installed without you knowing it.

Thanks, I took that test and everything turned up fine. It's like all of the computers memory is being used up. Once it freezes, I can hit con/alt/del and look at the "Performance" and it's at 100% for just a second then it goes back down to like 14%. I close that window and everything is fine again for a few minutes but it keeps happening. The computer has 384MB Ram, and this problem is happening regardless of what I have running. I can have one IE window open only and it still does the same thing.

    Anymore ideas?

384 MB Ram , it seems to be insufficient for XP. I am running Windows 2000 Pro, with no open windows, I nearly reach 200 MB.
It's possible that you get sometimes a physical memory overflow and your system has to use the pagefile and at this moment, it needs all possible ressources to write on the hard drive and you get a 'freeze' situation.

Any fix to that other than adding more ram? Have had the same comp with XP and same memory for over a year and never had a problem at all. Just recently this has started happening.
