You can go to the Security Forum and:

Please go to http://www.thespykiller.co.uk/html/downloads.htm
and download 'Hijack This!' self installer. Save it to the desktop or other suitable place. DO NOT just press run from the website Double click on the file and it will install to C:\program files\hijackthis and create an entry in the start menu and an optional shortcut on desktop.
Click on the entry in start menu or on the desktop to run HijackThis
Click the "Scan" button, when the scan is finished the scan button will become "Save Log" click that and save the log.
Go to where you saved the log and click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" then Paste the log back here in a reply.
It will possibly show issues deserving our attention, but most of what it lists will be harmless or even required,
so do NOT fix anything yet.
Someone here will be happy to help you analyze the results.

you have 56 running processes

thats way too much

try this

1, go to start

2, click on run

3, type in msconfig

4, click on selective startup

5, uncheck the box that says load startup items

6, click on the tab that says Startup

7, check any item with any of these words in them aol, itunes, ipod, america, wireless or wlan anything that has to do with aol.

8, after that, click on Apply and click on ok and restart. and your speed problem will be fixed.

(msconfig is the safest way to do this because if you don't like any of the changes, you can undo them with a single click. )

this tweak will make everthing really fast.

if you cant find any of the names in the startup tab, don't worry, just recheck the ones that have
aol, itunes, ipod, america, wireless or wlan anything that has to do with aol. in them and don't worry about it if you cant find one of the items

if for any reason you don't like the msconfig tweak, you can undo it by selecting normal startup in the general tab

if only the aol stuff is there, then don't worry.

i added the other ones just incase you were using older version and they were in the startup tab

only the aol should really be in there

all other items are in your services tab and you don't need to mess with them
