PLEASE HELP!!! Everyday I go online to check my mail or go on internet explorer and my mouse freezes up on me. I can't do ctrl alt del. I did take it somewhere to get it looked at and they could not tell me what is wrong. I have a Toshiba laptop Windows XP and have only had it for a little over a year. What is wrong? What other info do you need?

You have a few problems there actually, but right now my brain feels like mud and I can't point them all out to you. I'll be back later, but I'm sure someone will come along before me and point them out to you. And you're welcome ;)

    Uninstall MyWebSearch from Add/Remove Programs.

Click here to download the trial version of Ewido Security Suite:
    http://www.ewido.net/en/download/

    · Install Ewido.
    · During the installation, under "Additional Options" uncheck "Install background guard" and "Install scan via context menu".
    · Launch ewido.
    · It will prompt you to update click the OK button and it will go to the main screen.
    · On the left side of the main screen click update.
    · Click on Start and let it update.
    · DO NOT run a scan yet.

Restart your computer into Safe Mode now.
(Start tapping the F8 key at Startup, before the Windows logo screen).
Perform the following steps in Safe Mode:

    * Run Ewido:
    Click on scanner
Click Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
During the scan it will prompt you to clean files, click OK.
When the scan is finished, look at the bottom of the screen and click the Save report button.
Save the report to your desktop.

    Reboot.

Post a new Hijack This log and the results of the Ewido scan.

Hi, in response to your question have you tried the utility MSCONFIG , this utility disables all the programs running in the background. Click on the START button then Click on RUN then type in MSCONFIG you will get system configuration utility click on the STARTUP tab. Click on DISABLE ALL then Click on APPLY and then click on CLOSE.
It will ask you to restart the computer restart the computer then you will get system configuration utility box Check on DONT SHOW THIS MESSAGE AGAIN and then Click on OK.

You must have disabled everything with msconfig as aoltechkiran said.

Certain things need to run at Startup. Like your anti-virus program for example.

It would be better to see a new Hijack This log with the items you turned off re-enabled.

In my opinion, that's not good advice. It's one thing to trim down the items in Startup with msconfig. But to turn off everything is a bit too much.

I still need to remove the malware but I can't see what's left now with everything turned off.

    aoltechkiran,

It's not a good idea to disable everything in msconfig, as you disbable vital applications such as the anti-virus program that must be running.

Please do not offer this type of advice again.
