Hi....anytime I try to run a registry analyser/checker or spyware scanner program, my computer reboots at some point during the scan. All other programs work fine. No virus's found by my anti-virus program. CPU at normal temperature (50c - Athlon xp 2200), memory checks out OK, leading me to think it's not hardware. Mildly irritating!

I had the same trouble with my computer when I had service pack 1 installed. No spyware or anti-virus picked it up, but there was a process on my startup list that has a critical warning 4. Apparently this process takes advantage of some vulnerability within windows, hence shutting down randomly.

After I installed service pack 2, this stopped automatically.

Tthe process is called "NvCpl". Even after you disable it, it comes back. Check it out, might be your problem!!!

I'll try find the website where I found that info for you.
