my dell precision 670 (win xp) has had an issue with turning off immediately after i try to turn it on, and then when i turn it off, three minutes later, it would turn on and then immediately off, all on its own. (i have been meaning to ask about this but life happened).

today, the computer won't turn on at all. the fans won't even start. i have a voltmeter but no clue what to test to see if the power supply is good or bad. i opened it up to see if everything is seated right, and it looks like nothing was loose. i dusted the fans off, but there really wasn't too much dust. it is the computer i use to work on work stuff so i really need a quick answer before i go nuts (or my boss goes ballistic).

i think it is the power supply. when i open the case, the standby power supply light blinks ever so faintly, a sort of amber color... it blinks so fast and so faint, i can't even tell if it is blinking green or amber. time to get a new power supply. sigh.
