I own a HP pavilion 7855 with a pentium III and Microsoft Windows ME. Lately I have been experiencing a noise coming from the computer that is getting louder and louder. It sounds like an electric razor inside my computer. It's not getting any better. I'm not sure if this has anything to do with it, but sometimes my screensaver will lock up and ctrl-alt-del wont unlock it, I have to re-boot my entire computer by shutting the power off. When I go to start it up, it sounds like it's about to die, with that same loud electric razor sound. Any suggestions?

sounds like your internal fan could be on its way out, try booting your computer with the side panel off, look inside when it boots and notice the fan that sits ontop of the cpu, is it still turning round like normal? do you notice the noise coming from the fan in there? if not where is it coming from?

Might also be the PSU. The sound sounds like what I had when my PSU was burning up.
