My HP pavilion laptop will suddenly not connect to WiFi only works via a Ethernet cable. There is a white box with a red x in place of where the Wi-fi symbol is normally. All other devices connected to the Wi-fi are working fine.
Any advice on how to resolve ?

Does the PC detect the desired network? If so, exactly what happens when you try to connect?

If your network is not detected is any wireless network detected?

I'm assuming that you are trying to use an integrated wireless adapter. Could be that the wireless is switched off (Airplane mode on).

Could be a loose antenna connection. If the wireless adapter is accessible through a small cover on the laptop bottom make sure the antenna leads are secure.

Could be security software (Norton, etc.) whose data definitions are out of date.

Do you see your adapter listed under Device Manager? If so, then try uninstalling and reinstalling the adapter. Have you checked with updated drivers and previous drivers?
