I have a Toshiba Satellite with Windows 10 that is jut over one year old and today I went to connect my Toshiba 500GB disk drive to is to transfer some files off of my PC's hard drive and the computer made the typical noise when something is inserted in a USB port, but did nothing else. I checked the device manager and there was no sign of my drive. Also, I went to my school's library and tried it there on a Dell desktop with Windows 7 and it worked completely fine so I know that it is my computer, but I don't know what to do about it. Please help!

Does the 500GB show up in Disk Management ? If yes what does it say about it ?

I found the disk on the device manager, but not under "storage controllers". Instead I found it under "disk drives", but I continued like the answer said and it still isn't detected anywhere except the device manager and the "safely remove hardware and eject media" area
