Computer not shutting down

    Even if i give the shut down command the system does not shut down. It does not shows any icon but only empty screen. If I press Ctrl + Alt + Del if shuts down. Whats the problem with it?

    Why dont you just click on the windows key and hit u twice.

    Sometimes it takes a while to shutdown if something like a windows update is installing. What's the longest you've waited for it to shutdown?
    You may be asked to post a hijack this log here later as a preliminary step to see if something can be spotted as a culprit maybe.
    If anything, there are force shutdown programs or even tweaks you can do yourself- anyway one thing at a time- you'll get lots of help on this common enquiry.
