Ya...I have an acer travelmate 290 (laptop) and it won't turn on. My brother, the genius he is  , pressed a black nub on the corner of the computer (the one that puts it in sleep mode when you close/fold the laptop) and it went black and never started up again. When I press the on button, the cd device activates, the fan turns on for a few seconds then turns off. Nothing comes onto the screen. I've seen the troubleshooting book at the back, made sure the brightness is turned up and I even hooked it up to an external moniter but it was no use...I have no idea what happen or how to fix it...Plz Help!!!

The little button that you are refering to, is I expect the same as the one on the refrigerator that makes the light go out :D

I have one on my HP laptop as well. On my OLD laptop the button used to stick down occassionally, and I would have to tweak it to get it to pop up all the way.

    Give that a try.

Look for a recessed "reset" button underneath or at the back.
