    Hello,

As of a few days ago, my computer started to make strange high pitched noises and after a while would restart. I happened to notice that the noises would get louder once I started to play a game and it would shut down sooner the more I have running. I checked the temps and my fans to make sure that it’s not my CPU or GPU overheating, and now I suspect it’s my hard drive but with no real evidence I guess. I can’t really tell where the sound is coming from, but it doesn’t sound like it’s from my HDD

    please help!

    Hello and welcome to TSG!!

Does it actually do a restart, as in shutting down gracefully and coming back up with no issues? Or does it just power cycle? My first thought was power supply.
Tell us more about your system.

Oh I guess it does a power cycle, it just automatically does a full shutdown it doesn't go through like the windows process, then it restarts back up.

My PC is quite old so I figured something just needs to be upgraded.

I'll stand by my first guess, the power supply. The higher the drain (more things running and playing a game) the more power the system tries to draw and the power supply can't handle it. Again, just an educated guess with the limited information you've provided.

Is this a store-bought, brand-name PC, like a Dell, HP, etc.? Or a home built system? Trying to get some information on your system.
