I just got a new laptop and it's running kind of slow. I'll click to open a program like Mozilla Firefox or internet explorer and it will take like five seconds for it to open. The processor runs at 2.4 Ghz and it's got 512MB of RAM, so I figure it should be fairly quick. I thought it might be because of all the stuff that opens when the computer starts. I used StartupList to generate this list of things that open upon startup

    Running processes:

Now I don't know what a lot of this stuff is, so is there anything here that really does not need to open? And if this isn't the problem, then what else could it be?
