Your main problem is that you are running two antivirus programs at the same time, Norton and AVG. Never run more than one! They will conflict, slow down your computer and render it more vulnerable.

    Uninstall one.

If you choose to remove Norton, run the Norton Removal Tool.

If you choose to remove AVG, run the AVG Remover.

You have too many Startup applications loading with Windows. This can significantly increase your Startup time.

You should definitely trim it down quite a bit. You have too many processes running in the background.

Click on Start > Run > and type msconfig.

Under the Startup tab, uncheck all unnecessary applications. Use these three websites to help you decide which items to uncheck:

    Startup applications #1

    Startup applications #2

    Startup applications #3

Simply copy and paste the .exe files you see at the end of your HijackThis log's 04 (Startup) entries.

Remember, a lot of applications can be started manually when needed

Don't stop there though. Please refer to the procedure in post #2 and trim down your Startup list.

It's really not hard to figure out. Between the three websites, my favorite is this one. For this website only, you can enter the whole 04 entry from your HijackThis log. Only one entry at the time.

It's very simple, copy this entry for example:

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SunJavaUpdateSched] "C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin\jusched.exe"

Paste it in the address bar in the website and click on the green button at the end. Look at the attached picture.

A list will appear under the entry you've just pasted, after clicking on the green button.

For the entry you've paste (SunJavaUpdateSched) scroll down the list and you'll notice at the sixth line, all the info about Sun's Java, starting with the name jushed. Then, the .exe filename jushed.exe followed by a description of this legitimate process. At the right end of the line, you'll notice the letter "N", meaning N = Not required - often infrequently used tasks that can be started manually, if necessary. This information is displayed on the same page. You'll see other letters too, like "Y", "U", "X" and "?". Everything is clearly explained.

Make sure you choose the correct associations. You know you have Java installed on your computer. So, do not choose the line right under it (the seventh) showing jushed as malware, with the letter "X" at the end.

Now, in your Startup list, you'll know that you don't need jushed so you'll have to uncheck it.

Again, to get to your Startup list, click on Start > Run > type msconfig

Under the Startup tab, all your startup items will show.

    Good Luck! :)
