Hi ,I have a PIII computer which shut off suddenly by itself and tried to restart ,and half way scanning disk ,it shut off again and tried again still shut off as and when it like.
Can it be the power supply(480w dual fan) faulty, and can I would a old 250w power supply to test .
    Thank you.

yea i wouldnt see why u couldnt use a 250 to test it unless ur using a very good graphics card which requires more power

Maybe RAM problems but that's very doubtful, and a blue screen would have come up saying Memory Dump (most of the time) so your best bet is PS
