The problem started out of nowhere.I have windows xp and I noticed that my whole computer is been running kinda choppy.anything that has audio will skip, including music, aim sounds, videos, video games, anything in general.also my mouse moves choppy. It will pause for a second and then start moving again with no problem and then pause again. The mouse mainly moves choppy when I load up certain programs.
I tried scanning my computer with spybot ad-aware and avg antivirus and it found nothing.I also tried uninstalling and reinstalling Realtek ac97 and that didnt work either.
I have a cable modem so I know its not my internet connection speed.
I had my computer over a year and it was running with no problems.I started having these problems about 3 or 4 days ago.
Can somebody please help me fix these problems with my computer?

I am having the exact same problem. I have defragmented as well as freeing up about 20 gigs on my hard drive. It also began occurring out of no where.... at first i was thinking that it was a memory issue but all signs are pointing to a potential hardware or driver issue. I fear that it is indeed something wrong on the hardware side of things... anybody have any ideas? I'm going to update my drivers if that does not fix the problem then I will be back here to see if anybody has any suggestions.

Well updating the drivers didn't help

Heres my specs....
HP Pavillion zd8000
Windows XP Pro (5.1, Build 2600)
1022 RAM
Conexant AMC Audio
Driver version 6.14.0010.8380

I don't know if that helps any but I figure might as well give it a shot... not being able to listen to music is terrible....

Note: While in dxdiag I tested both the sound and the music and they both played perfectly.... which is odd.... Ive tried playing my music in Itunes, Winamp and Windows Media Player..... to no avail... all songs are choppy all the way through especially so when I move my mouse.

Excuse me SevensFull but there is one thing you can do is to start your own thread. It is kind of difficult to keep track of two people in one thread and when one butts in they say it is sort of like doing that when face to face and that is not very manner able. So if you could start a new thread I am sure you will get some results.

Thank you

hotreez this is for you to do:

To download HJTsetup.exe from TrendSecure To Download HijackThis go to the following at the File Repository
Click on the link below to Download HijackThis Self Installer:

http://www.trendsecure.com/portal/en-US/threat_analytics/HJTInstall.exe

Save the file to your desktop.
Double click on the HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop.
By default it will install to C:\Program Files\HijackThis.
Continue to click Next in the setup dialog boxes until you get to the Select Additional Tasks dialog.
Put a check by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.
Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
At the final dialog box click Finish and it will launch Hijack This.
Click on the Do a system scan and save a log file button. It will scan and then ask you to save the log.
Click Save to save the log file and then the log will open in notepad.
At the top of the Notepad HJT log screen, hit Edit then Select All then click Edit and then click Copy doing that copies the text to the clipboard, you won't see it yet....
Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
DO NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.
A security expert with a gold shield to the right of their name should take a look at your log - please be patient.

Please refrain from swearing, even if you have used the *'s, as this is a family site, and people of all ages visit here. Also, starting a new thread, instead of tagging onto an old one would have been better.
