computer turning off without warning

    my friends computer turns off without warning...

    there isnt any warnings that files are missing....im thinking just the power supply is in need of a change, but the computer is only a year old..

    so i dnt know..any suggestions??

    Sounds like more of a heat issue or video driver. What does the Event Viewer say?

    errr....

    sorry, don't know what the Event Viewer is lol..
    im still learning all this stuff..

    it could be over heating but, my friend doesnt do much on it, no games just internet, music and msn..and possibly small programs like microsoft word to do homework..

    Control Panel > Admin Tools > Event Viewer

    Look thru the three categories for errors at the time(s) the machine shuts down.

    Open the case and see how must dust is in there.

    okay sweet..

    when i get a chance to get to my mates house, ill chek out the event viewer and send over the reports..

    but for now i jst told her to clean the dust out... thanx for ur help.. ill get back to ya A.S.A.P cause im interested on fixing this thing myself lol

    You also might want to check if the fans in the cabinet are functioning properly.
    Download and install Speed Fan to monitor the CPU temperature !
