A friend called and said his computer keyboard was working very slow. He has to hold each key down for about 3 seconds before a character is typed. I had him run adaware spybot and hijack this. Afterwards it seemed a bit faster but is still a problem. Do you know why this might be?

This computer is confusing us. I went out to look at this system. It worked fine for an hour and a half or maybe longer and then yesterday it started moving sluggish again. They restarted and it worked fine for a few hours and then slowed up again. They tried to restart and it froze at the windows is shutting down screen. Does this sound like anything in particular?

I'd look to heat or perhaps even flakey ram.

    Candy and Anyone Else reading,
Well I removed the nic that was part of the phone management system and the computer still got to where it was slow. I am not sure if there is a way to test the ram without having it professionally tested. It doesn't seem like a heat issue as the system is pretty clean. It is a pentium III 733 with 448 mb of ram. I am going to post a hijack log here. I think the system is pretty clean. I went to trendmicro and did a virus scan. The system came back clean.

Norton will slow it down. You might turn it off for a test.

Also check cpu temp in the bios setup when it starts to slow down.

    Candy,
Its really weird. It will stop doing everything and then in a minute or so it will perform the last three functions you tried. Like taskmanager the startmenu and explorer will all pop up.

Does it exhibit the same behavior in safe mode?

The one program which is an emulation type software will not run in safemode because it s com port connection. I tried to do safemode with networking no luck.
I am going to take some different memory out there and try that.
    Thanks

I guess what I was getting at, does the same slowdown happen in safe mode......perhaps it may not be related to that software.
