When I start the computer for the first time it runs as follows:-
i) Finds the Graphic card and the screen starts up.
ii) Carries out the memory check and finds 64Mb of ram.
iii) The computer then freezes before it carries out the IDE detection process.
If I leave the computer running at this point for approximately five minutes and then restart the computer it normally runs as follows:-
i) Finds the Graphic card and the screen starts up.
ii) Carries out the memory check and finds 64Mb of ram.
iii) Floppy drive activates.
iv) Carries out the IDE detection process and find the hard disc and CD Drive.
v) Windows starts to run and then a blue screen appears with a message saying windows protection error restart your computer
If I then restart the computer it with run perfectly and I can shut it down and restart every time with out any problems.
This process is repeated every time I have to start the computer from cold.
I have replaced the CMOS battery, this made no difference.
Any suggestions?
