I have a Dell Dimension E310. The computer crashed. All I was supposed to be doing was doing a system restore. But, all of a sudden the computer stoped recognizing the hard drive. It is a SATA hard drive. First time working with a computer with one.

Thanks for any help in advance.

    Hello flowjo1200:

Try this: 1. Turn on your computer and press F2 to get into your system BIOS. 2. Change the Disk Controller setting from AHCI to IDE. Sounds as though the BIOS has mysteriously switched this setting; preventing your OS from recognizing your SATA hard drive. Once you get Windows up and running, you can manually re-install the SATA/RAID drivers and then switch back to AHCI in the BIOS.
