    My compaq presario sr1910an won't boot. it will not make any noise or show any signal to the monitor. It happened when the computer froze and i forced it to turn off by the power button. now when i turn it on the screen is blank, fans at max speed and dvd drive flashes and it stays like this. i tried manually reseting the bios by the jumpers to defaut.

    I use windows xp have 768 mb ram and just reformatted. it is 2 years old. :(

    So you don't have anything on the screen at all not even a flash of anything just blank....any beeps at all?

    Do you have the Operating System on CD....if you do can you boot from that?

    Can you get into bios

    here are the usual keys for entering Bios to press on startup.

    • {Delete} (modern Award and AMI BIOSes)
    • {F2} (modern Phoenix BIOSes)
    • {Ctrl}+{Alt}+{Esc}
    • {Ctrl}+{Esc}
    • {Alt}+{Esc}
    • {Ctrl}+{Alt}+{S}
    • {F1}

    If you are comfortable about it take all the memory out from the motherboard and then try starting it up and see if you get any beeps

    Could possibily be the mother board as it not even getting to bios

    Check and see it everything is seated correctly...does the Heatsink fan spin at first??

    Check the motherboard for any sign of failure like bulging capacitors

    So that means that the fan ontop of the CPU is spinning (heatsink)?
