My computer will play DVD burned on disc, but will not play the ones I buy from the store. It used to. Now it won't even recognize they're there.

What program are you using to view them? What OS? Do you get an error message?

I have tried playing the DVD w/ multiple media players: Windows Media Player, Windows Media Center, Intervideo DVD, Roxio Cineplayer, VLC media player. My computer doesn't recognize that there is even a DVD in the drive, but only with the official DVDs I bought at a store. It used to play them just fine. It still plays the burnt DVDs and VCDs just fine. I do not get any error message whatsoever, other than Media Center telling me there is no media in the drive. It simply doesn't do anything. I am running XP SP3, 2002 version w/ media center.

I ran it three times yesterday and it didn't find anything wrong. Weird!
