Computer won't shut down

    Windows 98. Computer was shutting down OK until I had Comcast hi-speed internet installed. Now when I go through the shut down procedure, it shuts down & re-starts just like I had put it through the re-start procedure.

    Unplugging the internet cable modem doesn't change anything.

    Otherwise, everything is working fine. I can turn it off by pressing the on/off button on the consul for a few seconds but then the computer detects an incorrect shut down.

    Any suggestions?

    Welcome to the board earbro.

    If you are using Win98 SE there is a shutdown supplement which should be installed.

    Otherwise the only possible "quick fix" might be to disable fast shutdown in msconfig>advanced.
