conflicting ip address

    on one of my computers on my network i have got a conflicting ip address, and cannot access the network???:confused: :confused: any ideas would be great thanks in advance

    Do you know if the ip address is dynamic or not? If you're not sure, best way to find out is to go into your control panel> network connections and then right click on the said network controller and click repair. If it is dynamic it will get you a brand new IP address

    I'm not sure what it is, but i have tried what you asked, but still have the same problem.. Its a dell 3100, running windows xp home edtion.. if that helps thanks for your time and help.

    Righty ho, it's not dynamic then and we need to change it manually. First of all, let's find out what IP address it is and the other machines are on the network. Please go to

    Start>run

    type in cmd and press enter

    In the black box that appears type in ipconfig and press enter

    Then please post your IP address here and also if you can gain access can you do so on the other machines and post those IP address as well please

    it goes a s far as renewing ip address .....then nothing....:confused: :confused:

    right the one that isnt connecting to the network is 0.0.0.0 and the one that it is conflicting with is 1

    thanks mate but all seems to be working fine now, Not quitesure how it sorted it self out but seems to be fine now. THANKS for your help.....
