I have a clean PC with all legitimate software. I run NOD32 AV software (fully updated), Win XP SP2 with all updates. The PC is behind a Smoothwall Corporate firewall on a DSL connection.

Yesterday evening as I shut down the PC Winlogon.exe hung and I had to kill it in order to shut the PC down. This morning when I switched the PC on Winlogon crashed and the helpful Microsoft help centre said that I had a virus/trojan on my system. :-(

I ran an in depth scan using NOD32 and it found nothing.

I ran Adaware SE with the latest definitions and it found nothing but the inevitable tracking cookies.

The PC is a Dell Dimension 5000 P IV 3.0 with Win XP SP2, 2 Gig RAM, ATI video card, 2 x 160GB SATA drives, External WD 250 Gig Firewire connected drive, External 250 Gig USB drive (not connected now), Too much software loaded :)

Here is the output from Hijack This. I cannot see anything that does not belong, however wiser minds than mine might see something I have missed!!!

If someone could take a look at this and comment I would be very grateful. I can if necessary roll back to a backup I did in October before I installed Vista RC2 and ended up with a dual boot system.

Thanks Chris

Sorry Mods I posted the thread confused and realise that that was a terrible description although probably correct. Please accept my apologies for cross posting!!
