Is it possible to use an Ethernet cable to connect two laptops together for the purpose of playing LAN games?
I have an Acer Aspire 1640Z amd my friend has an Acer Aspire 1640. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, but you need a crossover cable, or you need to use a hub/switch/router with two cables.

If either of the machines have a gigabit connection, the ports are auto-MDX, and you can use a standard Ethernet patch cable.
