    Hi E'body ,

Am trying to connect to COmcast using a Belkin N150 router. I had been using a local provider so far without any problems.

THe internet speed seems to be very low, 0.2 MBPS or so.

I have tried disabling 802.11e/WMM QoS to OFF but that has not helped much. I also did a factory reset.

Can someone help me out please?

    Thanks,

    Narayanan

What is the make/model of the cable modem? Also on the computer can you click Start, type cmd in the search box press enter. In the command prompt type ipconfig /all press enter. Right click in the command prompt and click on Select All and press enter. Then come back here and paste the results

Can you hook up your laptop via Ethernet cable straight to the modems wan port and then do a speed test (this is just for testing)?
If you do this you will have to power cycle the modem.

Not sure what speed package you have, but you may have to contact Comcast about the speed.

Yes am doing that but even then, is it normal for the wifi speed to be 1/10th the speed of a wired connection?

You will see a little difference between being straight connected to the modem vs being connected by wifi or ethernet to the router, but not that much. It's going to be hard to make any progress if comcast/modem are not getting the speeds you are paying for.

I worked with Comcast and got the Download speed up to 25 MBPS, which is the speed I am subscribed for. However on wifi, am getting 5-6 MPBS .

Including Terry's question, do you live in a area where you see multiple wireless networks from your computer?

Do you know how to change the channel on the router? If so change it to channel 6 and let me know if it was on auto or 11.

It was on auto, I changed it to 6 but not much change. Should I restart the router?
