What's a "standard pc"? Does that have to do with power management?

Have you installed the latest wireless driver from Belkin's web site?

Please attach a screen shot of the Networks page of the Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector and show ...

Start, Run, CMD, OK to open a command prompt:
(For Vista or 7 type CMD in the Search box after Start)

Type the following command:

IPCONFIG /ALL

[Note that there is no space between the slash and ALL.]

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If necessary use a text file and removable media to copy the results to a computer with internet access.

If you don't have at least one USB flash drive for moving small files from computer to computer when other networking is not an option you really ought to consider getting one. The smaller ones are practically free now. :)

So, you have a new old desktop pc? :) Fresh install of XP or old corrupted one? Service Pack 3?

Right click on My Computer and select Properties. I forget exactly what tab it is on.

It's not worth playing around with wireless networking until at least SP2. You can get SP3 here.

But to install that you need SP1a or SP2. You can get SP1a here.

If XP has not been just installed you ought to install that first, then SP1a, then SP3, and then chipset and other drivers.

Download using a computer that has internet access. Copy to the problem computer using CD, DVD or USB flash drive.
