I'm not sure what kind of issue this is, I think either software or memory. I am using Windows XP version 5.1 service pack 2 on a eMachines computer that is about 3 years old.

When I'm surfing the net I often have more than one explorer window open. I'm not sure if that's bad for my computer but I did it for a long time with no problems. But now my internet explorer will stop opening new windows after a certain point and I have to restart my computer to fix it. I'll right click a link and scroll to 'open in new tab' but when the new tab opens it just says 'connecting' but it never loads.

This started happening a few months ago but I didn't pay attention because it took a very long time to happen. But recently it's become more frequent. If I'm searching for something, like say on Ebay, I loose the ability to open new windows after about 30 minutes and have to restart my computer.

Does this sound familiar to anyone?

If this is the problem can it be fixed, or do I need a new computer?

I suspect some type of spyware, trojan, or virus. Post a HijackThis log in the Security forum.
