hey all. I am having connection problems with a new build. I know it is not the modem as I am useing it now on another computer. The eathernet cable light where the cable connects to the motherboard flashes on and off about every 10 seconds. and I get a windows message saying "a network cable is unplugged". The cable and all other connections are secure. Anyone have any ideas?

Did you remember to power-cycle the modem when switching computers? If so, try unplugging for about 5 minutes and see if that helps.

If you are using the same cable as for the working computer then you probably have a NIC problem. Do you have all drivers installed (no yellow warnings in Device Manager)?

yep I tried that. after checking the nvidia forums and seeing over 300 posts with the same problem and no real solution I stuck a pci network card in and disabled the nvidia controller. All is good now

FWIW, I have an Asus board, and one of the NIC channels has already bit the dust. I'm waiting for the other one to go. :D
